Friendly, welcoming hotel with wonderful views excellent food.
We had an excellent room with a balcony. Instead of having a slated plastic rail this could be perspex/glass for a better sea view.
Excellent room overlooking the sea and Sidmouth front.Staff were very helpfull and efficient. We have stopped in the Victoria Hotel next door but prefer the Westcliff and it was cheaper.Would book there again.
A well run very clean hotel i liked the pace the extra large bedrooms, will certainly stay again
Lovely big room with seaview, bed was enormous! Walking distance of beach and shops etc. Lovely grounds and gardens just over the road. Ideally situated for everything you could want to do in Sidmouth. Very smart and clean hotel.
We found the smell on the stairs and corridors wasn't very pleasant, probably lingering from the dining room. Could do with a nice smelly on the stairs and corridors. Also, although the bathroom was excellent, their was no privacy when using the sink area.
Our room was very good value for money with a sea view and balcony. Hotel equipped and furnished to a high standard, excellent breakfast and welcoming helpful staff.
Good sized room. Comfy bed and good shower. Friendly and professional staff. Good food. Central to Sidmouth's shops, sea front, gardens and restaurants. Traditionally decorated.
The clientele were generally retired people. The outside of the hotel (and windows) could do with a little revamp. The hotel was generally quite hot. The hoovering seemed to only start once people sat down for breakfast.
Location, food, value for money, able to book for one night only, relaxing after a day working.
Excellent value for money and wonderfull sea views. The location allowed easy exploration of the locality and if the opportunity arises, i would definitely pay a return visit.
nice location lovely big room lovely garden and staff that talks to you very friendly the fruit at breakfast time was fabulous
We enjoyed it because of the staff they were all polite and helpful, the rooms were better than we expected all lovely and cleanand the meals were very good
Service, Food,Beds,Good all round.
Used hotel as attending a wedding. Bags left in foyer by hotel and not taken to room when available as promised so when we returned at 11:00pm they were sat in the middle of an open reception area which at the time was unattended as the night porter was busy elsewhere. The hotel was quite tired and we did not feel we had value for money having stayed at far more prestgious venues for far less.
It's location - stunning views
The food in the evening was very poor, not an awful lot of choice and there was a £3 supplement for a basic prawn cocktail! There was no 'a la carte' offered either. For desert I asked for cheese and biscuits, expecting a choice of cheeses/biscuits from a cheese board, what arrived was a plate with 3 different cheeses and 4 different biscuits. The cheese given was not all I would have chosen and also far too much, therefore wasted. This is not what I would expect from this class of hotel. I do have to say though that the breakfast was totally the opposite - excellent. The standard of decor in some of the hotel is extremely dated and although that should add to it's charm it actually makes it look very 'tired' and in need of a bit of TLC. With the above addressed this hotel could be stunning.
staff very freindly, and helpfull. husband only has cooked breakfast when we are away, plenty of choice. we did not stay for eavning meals, so can not comment.
tv reception not very good in the room. not flat screen and small. was only able to use part of the remote controll. eg up and down scroll and volume only
Very poor dinner menu and poor quality
